And now for the REALLY big news....

Cardboard boxes? Check.

Bubblewrap? Check.

Yards of sellotape? Check.

Man with a van? Check, check, check.

Yes, you’ve guessed it – we’re moving! (And we’re taking all the light bulbs with us).

As you know, Kentwell Hall has been our very lovely home for the last 2 years, so it is not without a tear in our collective eye and a lump in our collective throat that we say goodbye to the wilds of Suffolk. We’ve been very happy there but, like a giant size puppy in a fun size flat, we’ve somewhat outgrown our old place and must move on to pastures new.

So it’s farewell to Kentwell Hall – we’ll miss you. But it’s hello to…. Hinwick House! Which we are very, very overexcited about (a bit like that puppy I was telling you about earlier, actually). Nestled in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside, Hinwick House is a simply stunning Georgian mansion, set in several acres of amazingly beautiful grounds. If you thought Kentwell Hall was good, wait until you see this place! It really is breathtaking, and is an ideal new home for Festinho; ever so slightly larger, but with exactly the same cosy and intimate feel to it, and with even more secret and wonderful places to explore and discover throughout the weekend.

Of course we’ll be keeping everything pretty much the same – live music, DJs, visual treats, cabaret, capoeira, samba, delicious food and well priced drinks, kid’s areas and lashings of silliness. Just in a different place, that’s all.

And the really, REALLY good news is that you don’t have to go to work on Monday, or pack the youngsters off to school! No, we haven’t struck some kind of weird deal with your boss or your kid’s teachers– but we have shifted the date. Festinho 2010 will now take place on the late August Bank Holiday weekend; that’s 27th – 29th August.

Exciting, huh? We can’t wait – and we hope, neither can you.

Oh, and  if you have already bought earlybird tickets based on the 3rd – 5th September date you’ll be receiving an email from We Got Tickets soon with details of how you can be reimbursed if it turns out you can’t make the new date.

A strange decision to move it to a weekend that is already hugely oversubscribed in the festival calendar. I'll probably be just up the road at Shambala as indeed will be the vast majority of my festival chums who were expressing an interest in coming along to Kentwell this year. Oh well!
